The Residential Supervisor is responsible for the overall management of the residential home that supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Each residential home has 3-4 individuals and is geographically separated from the main offices of Penn-Mar Human Services.
Earn between $16.
00 and $18.
00/hour, depending on experience.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for assisting with the Individual Plan meeting by presenting the residential review, preparing the strengths/needs list, and being prepared to answer questions that may arise.
The Residential Supervisor works with the Program Manager on the outcomes/goals and any other necessary documentation.
Completes quarterly or monthly reports for everyone in the home and assures follow up on items outlined in the Individual Plan.
Plans and coordinates appropriate leisure and social activities with individuals.
Encourages an environment for individuals to express their personal choice and preferences while respecting their dignity of risk and remembering that safety is of the utmost importance.
Assure acceptable personal hygiene and attire (clothing choices are weather appropriate, match, in good repair, fit; assure proper shaving, bathing, cleanliness tooth brushing, etc.
)Encourage community involvement (coordinate outings based on consumer choice, assure appropriate money is available for activities, etc.
)Strong knowledge and understanding of consumer rights (ensures people's rights such as honors choices, maintains adult interactions, respects their home, respects their privacy, religious affiliation, fosters independence, etc.
)In-depth knowledge of consumers (understanding consumer diagnosis, likes/ dislikes, preferences, medications, and their side effects, understanding proactive strategies, and general needs)Oversees grocery shopping, menu planning, diets, etc.

Schedules, coordinates and/or completes all medical appointments and other specialized services and recommended by the team.
Assures follow up recommendations are completed as ordered.
The ability to proficiently understand, implement and train staff in all behavior programs, which may include approved BPS techniques of a least restrictive nature.
Responsible for assuring all staff are trained on any behavior programs in the home and that plans are implemented as outlined.
Responsible for the direct care of individuals and assuring all needs of the individuals are met.
Oversee medication administration process, which includes ordering medications, proper documentation, reporting errors, etc.
Communicate with Penn-Mar nurses, program managers, physicians, etc.
about health-related issues in a timely manner; should be proactive, professional and appropriate in their communication about health-related issues.
Maintains all individual records and filing at both the home and office.
Assures all paperwork is accurately completed and turned in on a timely basisOversee outcome data, behavior plan data, daily logs, etc.
Complete incident reports, medical appointment records, employee injuries, and any additional paperwork properly.
Organize paperwork and office well; office paperwork should be filed neatly and appropriately; there should be clear systems in place regarding organization and staff should be able to easily access information.
Responsible for monitoring consumer funds as outlined in Penn-Mar's financial policy.
Ensures all transactions are documented appropriately and receipts are obtained for any expenditures.
Receives approval from Residential Program Manager for purchases as outlined in the policy.
In Maryland, the Residential Supervisor under the direction of the Program Manager may be responsible for applying for and completing re-determinations for individual benefits including Food Stamps, SSI, SSA, insurance, etc.
Ensure that money transaction forms are completed accurately, turned in on time and assure that money is spent based on consumer choices; help consumers implement cost-saving measures when making purchases.
Conduct financial audits to ensure money is accounted for accurately.
Adhere to all organizational and state-regulated financial policies; implement all outlined procedures; demonstrate the ability to train other supervisors.
Represents the agency in a professional manner when dealing with the individuals, their families, supervisors, co-workers and other supportive service professionals.
Takes initiative; be the first person to volunteer to take on additional work, develop solutions to problems and work with a high level of independence.
Maintain confidentiality; exercise diligence in ensuring that information is shared only with parties that need to know it.
Utilize positive communication; give positive feedback and use a great deal of tact to constructively give advice to others.
Exhibit good judgment; independently make and follow through with decisions, and be able to clearly explain them.
Promote positive relationships with consumer family members, serve as a role model for interaction with families.
Attends Residential Supervisor meetings as scheduled and any other Penn-Mar Agency meetings.
Responsible for assuring information obtained at Residential Supervisor or agency meetings are communicated to house staff.
Has working knowledge of State Residential Regulations, ensures home complies and participates in the licensing review process.
Monitors, reviews and approves all the employee labor within the home and verifies Ultipro has accurate time pairs and codes entered.
May be required to complete sleepovers as live-in Residential Supervisor.
On-call duties as outlined in the on-call policy for the State in which you work.
Must resolve staffing situations, accountable for finding coverage and must meet all on-call duties as assigned.
Must maintain acceptable site assessment scores; should strive for 100% site assessment score.
Demonstrate excellent judgement and handle emergency situations appropriately.
Directly supervises direct care staff within the home.
Works in conjunction with the Residential Program Manager in the hiring, training, evaluation, discipline, and termination of staff.
Responsible for on-call duties as outlined in the residential on-call policy.
Supervises the care of the home regarding cleaning, upkeep, and maintenance.
Maintains a pleasant, homes like environment based on the individual's choices and preferences.
Handles emergency situations in an appropriate manner.
Effectively develops employees, fosters a positive work environment and works to retain employees.
Able to work with minimal direct supervision.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum High School Diploma/ GED requiredOne (1) or more year of experience direct care experience highly preferred.
Or Associates Degree and 6 months experience or a Bachelors Degree and 3 months of experience.
Acceptable criminal background.
Valid Driver's License with 2 yrs.
of consecutive driving experience.
