R&D Staff Scientist

Job Description SummaryThe R&D Staff Scientist is responsible for leading the activities of one or more project in the R&D department. Additionally the Staff Scientist will frequently work with other functional managers and business leaders as part of cross-functional teams. The Staff Scientist is accountable for ensuring the timely completion of R&D related tasks. Projects may include new product development, technology development and/or in line-extensions. Staff Scientist may collaborate with external partners or customers on new business opportunities (technology evaluation). Staff Scientist is also responsible for filing any project-related patent applications and preparing manuscripts for publications. The candidate may also serve as the core team member on GPDS core teams or may do so through a designee.
Job Description
Responsible for projects and act as a coach to subordinate leaders or staff members to meet schedules and resolve technical or operational problems.
Provides technical scientific leadership to achieve project goals.
Works on issues where analysis requires an in-depth understanding of organizational objectives.
Develops protocols to achieve scientific objectives.
Ensures that operational objectives and work plans are addressed.
Conducts briefings and technical meetings for leadership team level staff within function.
Uses influencing skills (with functional or cross-functional peers and subordinates) to accomplish project goals.
Reviews project progress with R&D Manager/Director.
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8-10 years of experience or PhD with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience (or equivalent combination of Education and Scientific experience)
Experience in molecular biology, microbiology or virology
Must have research and development, preferably in In Vitro Diagnostic products
Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience ? team or cross-functional
Strong record of technology implementation and development skills
Ideal candidate must possess accomplished communication skills along with strong interpersonal skills

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
