Position Summary and Responsibilities The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer will be responsible to ensure, company compliance with existing, new and emerging federal, state and international environmental, health and safety regulations.
This requires the knowledge and technical expertise to develop and deploy environmental, health and safety policies, systems, programs and processes.
What you will be doing:
Perform routine report and procedure review, updating and writing to include internal SOP's, safety, and environmental guide documents.
Research new materials and provide safety guidance associated with use and storage of the material.
Interface with laboratory and manufacturing personnel providing guidance for satellite waste accumulation and material safety.
Lead safety meetings concerning practices and procedures associated with new chemicals and materials.
Research OSHA, EPA, NIOSH, and other governing EH&S law and regulations to prepare reports and procedures for compliance and safe operation.
Coordinate hazardous and nonhazardous waste shipments.
Procure safety and environmental equipment and consumables.
Develop and conduct training to groups as large as 50 individuals on various safety and environmental topics.
Perform physical surveys, inspections and audits as needed.
Qualifications What you bring to the table:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related Science Minimum 3-5 years of EHS experience at a manufacturing facility Must have a detailed understanding of hazardous waste management, preparing and submitting environmental compliance reports to regulatory agencies, and experience researching regulations and guidelines to determine applicability, significance, and effect on in house processes and procedures.
Experience with safety data sheets, respiratory protection programs, classification of waste streams Must be Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Interpersonal skills adequate to communicate effectively, work with, and influence others without direct authority.
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and move heavy containers with or without help.
US Citizenship required for government clearance and or data/software access.
Nice to have:
Experience conducting safety and environmental audits is desired.
Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems, gas meters and calibration, disaster plans, laser safety, and x-ray equipment inspection and badge programs is a plus TSCA experience and nanomaterials a plus.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
